Welcome to FourWaysToSpeakOut.com. This website was orchestrated as the official online repository for the ‘Four Ways To Speak Out’ campaign in 2009. It all started in response to the 72 women who lost their lives in 2007 & 8 from domestic violence. An event was held in honor of the family members effected by this tragedy and to start building awareness to larger issue of domestic violence. The result was a full blown awareness campaign and the launch of this website.
The message behind ‘Four Ways To Speak Out’ is that WE all need to do our own in supporting the prevention of domestic violence. The idea is that if everyone agreed to speak out in these four manors that all us together could make a significant difference in peoples lives. Nobody deserves to be a victim of domestic violence. NOBODY.
Speak to the government
in 2009 a petition was started to help build awareness and end domestic violence. Specifically, data was proposed that 1 in 3 individuals in power we’re not taking a proactive approach to offering domestic violence protection.
Speak out to save lives
To fund this initiative individuals could buy certain Avon products in which the proceeds would go towards furthering this campaign and ending domestic violence.
Speak to local community
Spread the word to everyone you know and to the people in your community that you don’t know. If people aren’t educated then people can’t change.
Speak to friends and family
Domestic violence is a silent killer. Not every domestic violence victim is vocal about their experience. In fact, its most likely that they aren’t vocal about it at all. Please take the time to sit down with your close friends and family and discuss domestic violence. Let them know that it is not “normal” and it should not be accepted in any form. If you find that someone you know is a victim of domestic abuse then move forward and get them the help and support that they need and deserve.
We also encourage that you work with organizations that support speaking out against violence and also support setting up individuals effected by violence with the skills and assets in order to success in the world.
A Special THANKS!
